Suitability

I have never sat the GAMSAT. Is tutoring suitable for me?

Yes. First-time sitters usually start with foundations: understanding what Task A and Task B actually ask for, planning under time limits and paragraph control. The consultation identifies the right starting point, and the first lessons are built from your starting work rather than an assumed level.

I have sat before and Section 2 held me back. Will this be different?

Repeat sitters are a large part of who this service is designed for. Lessons start from what your recent essays actually do, so the pattern that held the last sitting back is named specifically and worked on deliberately, rather than repeating the same generic preparation.

What is the initial consultation for?

It is a short suitability conversation: your goals, your timeline, your writing history and whether one-on-one tutoring is the right tool for you. It is not a lesson, not a sales script and not a payment step. If tutoring is not right for your situation, you will be told so directly.

Do international students or students outside Australia use this?

Lessons run online, so location is not a barrier. If you are sitting GAMSAT overseas or preparing from outside Australia, mention your time zone in the application so lesson times can be arranged sensibly.

How are time zones handled?

Lesson times are agreed with you individually, and the confirmed time is stated with its time zone so there is no ambiguity. If you are in a different time zone from the founder, workable overlap is discussed at the consultation before any arrangement is agreed.

Lessons and formats

Can I book a single lesson?

Single lessons may be available depending on the founder's availability. Whether a single session or a short package suits you better is discussed at the consultation — for some goals one focused session is genuinely enough, and you will be told if that is the case.

How do packages work?

A package is a set of lessons with written work in between, agreed as one arrangement. The number of sessions, the included written work and the total amount are confirmed in writing before you pay. Packages are not sold from a public price grid because the right shape depends on your starting point and timeline.

What happens in a lesson?

A private, live session with the founder: reviewing where you are, working through your submitted writing, practising corrections live and setting next actions. The tutoring page describes the lesson shape in detail.

Are lessons group classes or recorded courses?

No. Every lesson is one-on-one. There are no group classes, and the future self-paced course is a separate product that is not part of the current offer.

Written work and feedback

Is essay marking included?

Review of the written work you submit for lessons is part of the tutoring cycle — lessons are built on it. The precise amount of written feedback included in your arrangement (for example, how many pieces per package) is confirmed in writing at the consultation, so there is no ambiguity about what you are paying for.

What kind of work can I submit?

Full Task A or Task B essays are the core, and shorter pieces such as essay plans or single paragraphs can be requested as part of the teaching. Work is submitted through the student portal so it stays organised and private.

What does feedback look like?

Comments on specific passages, an overall summary naming what is working and the highest-value change, and next actions — then discussion of the reasoning in your lesson. A clearly-labelled fictional example is on the sample feedback page.

How fast is feedback returned?

A universal turnaround promise has not been published, because the honest answer depends on current student numbers. When work is requested from you, you are told when to expect feedback on it, and lessons are scheduled so the feedback exists before the session that needs it.

Will I get a predicted GAMSAT score with my feedback?

No. Feedback describes your writing and how to improve it. Predicted scores from any preparation provider are guesses with official-looking formatting, and the service does not pretend otherwise.

Payment and policies

How does payment work?

By manual bank transfer, after the arrangement is agreed in writing. You receive account details and a unique payment reference, the founder confirms the transfer, and paid lessons begin after confirmation. No card details are collected and nothing recurs automatically.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a lesson?

Lessons can be rescheduled with reasonable notice so the time can be reused. The exact notice period is confirmed as part of your written arrangement before you pay — see the policies page for the current wording.

What happens if I miss a lesson?

A lesson missed without notice is generally lost, because the time was reserved exclusively for you. Genuine emergencies are treated with common sense. How missed lessons interact with a package is stated in your written arrangement.

Are results guaranteed?

No, and you should distrust any provider who says otherwise. Tutoring improves the skills the exam measures; your result also depends on your practice, starting point and the day itself. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Access and the portal

What is the student portal?

A simple private area for enrolled students: essay submission, feedback history and your next actions after lessons. You receive access once your arrangement is confirmed — applying or enquiring does not create an account.

Does tutoring include course access?

No. Tutoring includes the tutoring tools in the portal. A structured self-paced course is a planned, separate product, and access to course content is managed separately from tutoring. The course access page explains the distinction.

Is booking a consultation the same as booking a lesson?

No. The consultation is a public first step for prospective students. Paid lesson booking happens later, inside the portal, once an arrangement is agreed and payment is confirmed. The two are deliberately separate.

Independence

Is GAMSAT Plus affiliated with ACER?

No. GAMSAT is administered by ACER. GAMSAT Plus is an independent tutoring service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by ACER. No material on this site is official ACER content, and no claim of insider knowledge is made.

Question not answered here? Ask it in your application, or raise it at the consultation — unanswered questions before payment are exactly what the consultation is for.
